Elizabeth Bickford, Director of Financial Aid, explains the reason for offering this opportunity to incoming students. The main reason being to make the University of Oregon more accessible to Oregon residents.
Audience and agenda
Oregon News is a weekly news program that is produced by the students in the broadcast journalism sequence at UO. This program first aired in 1991 by Professor Karl Nestvold. In 2008 a 5 minute daily news update was created to supplement the weekly half hour show.
Usefulness:
In order to be eligible for this program you need to first be eligible for a pell grant. On the University website it says that you can also gain free housing, but you must have a 3.8 high school GPA to be eligible for that award. It is great that the University of Oregon is offering this new opportunity. Many residents like myself are wishing that they could participate in this program also.
